Welcome to Appalachian Steps. I’m Knuckles, an AT thru hiker. My goal is simple: to give you the knowledge to get out on the trail safely.
I learned a lot from other hikers along the way, and their advice helped me more than anything. Still, I made my share of mistakes. Hopefully, this site helps you avoid a few of those.
Here, I’ll share the inside scoop, some trail-tested tips, and a few trail stories and calamities. There’s a lot I want to pass along. But as Marcel Proust once wrote:
“We do not receive wisdom; we must discover it for ourselves, after a journey through the wilderness which no one else can make for us, which no one can spare us.”
I can’t predict every bump in your journey (that will be your trail story to tell) but I can help you take your first steps. To start planning, visit <Getting Started>.
